I am thrilled to tip my hat to the great new blog by Joe Kraus. Joe was one of the founders of Excite, has been an angel investor in and advisor to numerous startups and has recently gotten back into the game with a new startup of his own. Joe has been an articulate advocate of copyRIGHTS through his organization DigitalConsumer.org and will no doubt be an equally effective advocate for his new company.
It is great to have Joe out there blogging about the entrepreneurial experience. While I write VentureBlog in hopes of giving entrepreneurs a view into the venture process, that is only half of the equation. Joe's blog explores company building from the inside out. It is both thoughtful and practical, as we try to be with VentureBlog as well. I am hopeful that more entrepreneurs will begin to share their experiences. And I look forward to continuing to read Joe's thoughts on hiring, finance, management and the like.
Give them more stock options, less cash, and more T-shirts. They can't afford clothes. Things got tough when they starting giving out trinkets. :)
The only place that had us doing HR team building exercises didn't have any teams.

I am impressed by the thought behind this blog...and by the amount of traffic it is obviously getting!
Let me add that I am embarassed by my peers in the advertising and marketing trades, who have given our profession a bad rap among the VC and investment communities. Unfortunately, folks now think marketing means high fixed costs...when marketing should mean a plan for incremental revenue, period. Our marketing firm puts our fees at-risk against client revenue, a concept VCs and bean counters love (and our competitors hate!)
